8) 1804: The Hidden History of Haiti, directed by Tariq NasheedMovies I like that almost made this list for being Independent and about Afrikans, until I found out that the directors were not all Black: 13th by Ava Duvernay and white guy whose name I don’t remember. The movie Quilombo, and the movie Besouro; both done Independently by white Brazilian directors.

Two of my favorite movies are “The Battle of Algiers(1966) and a more recent movie “Mother Of George”(2013). I would recommend both of these films to conscious (and unconscious) Afrikans.

The movie Crown Heights is really a good one, though it is a hard watch because of the injustice that occurred, based on a true story. Also, there is a movie( I forget the title of it), but the story is based in Trinidad, and the director is actually a Trinidadian. If I happened to remember the title down the line I’ll make sure to share it.

Blacktastic! I haven’t been to one for over three years now. I have to step my game up this year, if it has not already gone by.
