Leaving christianity
Ever since I walked away from christianity at 17 I’ve realized it was the best decision I ever made. The true healing of the soul starts with reconnecting with nature, listening to the ancestors, working out, and maintaining a healthy diet.

That’s beautiful. I wish I had left earlier or stayed out when I left. Working on all of this myself to realign. Thanks for sharing.

@Nnemkadi if you go on YouTube and look up Spirituality vs Religion by Nana Khalid Muhammad it changes your perception on religion.

@NnemkadiYaa Daughter, you never walk alone. Listen more often to things than to beings. Its the ancestors voice.

Not only christianity, but all religions.

Kudos to you brother.
Myself, I am drawing away and a bit farther from Christianity and any religion for that matter but what I’m realizing is that not everything is for everyone.
There are over 1000 religions worldwide.
Black people/Abibifoɔ(Africans) had and have our ways of connecting to our God(within), Gods, Universe and Ankhcestors. However there are some doctrines aligning with some of these ways and others decided to call it “African Traditional religion” which I dont really buy into that but hey.
I see this whole concept of “spirituality” as also another facet of religion i.e if it came from the white/krakkas, plus almost everyone has different perspectives on how it should be practiced. Still searching and learning tho

I started deconstructing/researching around 16/17 as well(though I never truly believed my whole life). A little different for me though because I was raised in the NOI. My father converted around his 20’s and changed his last name, which is why we’re the only Shabazz in the family. I’ve never felt the need for an external spiritual connection, and as I’ve had multiple readings from different people they’ve more so confirmed the same in following my own judgment. Maybe I was born more aligned in that area. I’d still like to participate and integrate traditional African spiritual systems into my life, more as an obligation to my ancestors than a need for personal guidance/connection if that makes sense .

We seem to all have had a similar trajectory here in the snakes…

@Ohenenana Nation of Islam is sort of a black nationalist sect, following the teachings of Elijah Muhammad & Louis Farrakhan

@Isaiah O okay, thanks.
I heard about it, haven’t had the chance to read more about it yet.
